Tips for building a frame house
Frame house do it yourself. Tips for building a frame house
Is it possible to quickly and inexpensively build a house with your own hands?
Sure you may! And only one example, we will tell how to do it.
Our project is called "Puff". This is a small two-storey house with an attic, a total area of 69 sq. M. m, with the possibility of expansion over time. The project is well suited for a house in the village or at the dacha.
Stages of work presented in the photographs. As you can see, in the photo - the house is ready and already suitable for settling; what is missing is a beautifully decorated wooden porch.
Frame houses are often more profitable to build on standard projects - they are cheaper than individual ones. In our case, the main thing for future owners was functionality and reasonable price.
Despite the small living space of the house, 45 sq. M. m, it is very convenient. On the ground floor there are: an entrance hall, where a gas boiler is installed; kitchen-dining room, sufficient for 4-5 people; bathroom and shower.

On the second floor, in the attic - two bedrooms of 11 square meters. m, as well as a spacious built-in wardrobe. Here you can store seasonal items and everything you need. Nearby - pantry and toilet.
To the side facades of the house from one or two sides subsequently, rooms will most likely be added, and then the area of the house will increase to 105 sq. M. m
Foundation
The house for this project is easy due to the use of frame structures. Therefore, there is no need for a solid foundation. The foundation was made of individual pillars, which are built very quickly and at the same time materials are saved.
Pillar foundations are about 70% cheaper than tape ones. A high base is needed to protect the house from spring flooding. Therefore, it was raised 90 cm above the ground. The space of the basement was laid with cinder blocks.
Wooden frame
The next stage after the completion of the foundation is the installation of a wooden frame. The most important point here is the right choice of wood. The tree should be of high quality, and most importantly, well dried. In numbers, this means: moisture is no more than 14%.
Wood for the construction of the frame of the house is impregnated with compounds that prevent rotting and burning.
When purchasing wood necessarily pay attention to the accompanying documents. During the construction of this house there was an unpleasant incident: the forest was bought at a very reasonable price, but the owners did not take care of the proper paperwork. On the way to the construction, the wood was confiscated. I had to apply to the company with a license for this type of activity, with a good reputation. The company provided both high-quality wood and all the necessary documents. The price was reasonable, but not the lowest. The saying "Miserly pays twice", unfortunately, is relevant today.
Walls and roof
After installing the wooden frame, it was possible to start assembling the walls. For better thermal insulation, it was decided to use mineral wool. The “layer cake” of the walls consisted of an outer OSB plate, then a windscreen layer, mineral wool, a vapor barrier layer, and finally, the inner side was wooden paneling, instead of which drywall could be used.
Windproof film must be securely fastened to the frame, because insulation is a fibrous, blown material and therefore must be dressed in a “skin” - film. By analogy, you can remember how people wear a soft and warm wool sweater in cool weather, and a windbreaker from above to keep warm.
Windproof film is also placed on the rafters. It is important that she miss the water vapor. Not all films on the market today have this property.
In order for moisture accumulated under the film to evaporate without difficulty, it is necessary to stuff the slats onto the frame over the film. This provides airspace that can be saturated with water vapor. OSB-plates are installed on these rails.

In this project, the skin was chosen with OSB-plates, but a number of other quite worthy materials can be used. Magnesite plates, plywood, edged boards and other types of materials are widely used for cladding.
After installing the outer skin between the uprights of the frame from the inside secured a warming layer - basalt wool. This reliable, non-flammable and environmentally friendly insulation must be insulated from moisture. To do this, according to the instructions, from the inside of the house, it is covered with a vapor barrier film.
At the request of the owners of the house internal walls can be sheathed with drywall. But in this case, it was decided to apply the lining of wooden clapboard. The electrical wiring is placed in the space between the frame and the clapboard, the wooden clapboard is installed and varnished.
The ceilings and stairs are made of high quality wood.
On the outer side of the house walls are covered with vinyl siding, and for the roof was used ondulin - euroslate. Both of these materials allow you to choose a wide range of colors, and your home at a glance will be different from its neighbors.

Siding - inexpensive and most convenient to use material. It does not need anything to process and easy to clean with plain water. In case of small mechanical damage, it is enough to change just a few bars.
Ondulin on the roof will not rattle from a strong wind, in addition, it softens all sounds. If rain hits the roof and you are resting in the attic, this sound will not seem too loud. Ondulin roof and siding for exterior walls are durable and reliable materials.
