What sets ceramic block apart

Ceramic block has a higher load capacity than aerated concrete — its main advantage. The flip side is higher thermal conductivity, so for optimal comfort the insulation must be thicker. At the same time a ceramic wall has better vapour control and lets less moisture through from inside, so it can be insulated with vapour-tight materials.

When to choose ceramic block

Porous ceramic brick of the 2NF type is justified where a wall needs greater load capacity at a small thickness. So ceramic block is better for houses of two or more storeys. In practice the build cost is slightly higher than with lighter systems — a fair price for the strength.
