Why do you need a heat pump or what to do if there is no gas for heating and is not expected

This is a small story about people in whom the cost of gas was higher than the cost of the building being built.

How we solved this problem

Remember the winter before the crisis of 2008 ... On the advice of the architect, a family came to us. Last year they bought a plot, until this year managed to raise funds for the construction and purchased a project of the house (a project of the house "Yuri" 170 sq. M with a garage). And suddenly they found out the sad news ...

They can not use the gas passing through them on the street and which they hoped for (lack of pipeline cross section). In order to connect the gas to the house, it is necessary to lay a new line and the whole cost of laying two kilometers of the gas pipeline falls on them. And this was not enough for a lot of 50 thousand dollars.

One could hope that in the future you can return your money when neighbors will be built ... But when it will be - it is unknown, and it is necessary to lay the pipe now.

And so with such reflections they turned to the architect. And he told them about the advantages of the heat pump and the opportunity not only to save on the laying of the gas pipeline, but also to get autonomy in heating. With such hopes and doubts, this couple appeared at our office. The host, along with the name of the project, also called Yuri.

In order to understand whether it is possible that the energy of the earth will heat your house and whether Swedish quality will cope with Ukrainian realities, we have put a heat pump in our production room for heating. The Swedish pump in front of Ukraine did not escape. After telling stories about prices, opportunities and excursions to the living representative of the "heating family" our customers rejected all doubts.

The risk is a noble thing, the more that there was an opportunity to save 20-30 thousand. EURO

So, from what to start:

1. Solve the problem by determining the heat loss of the house

For a house with a garage with an area of 170 m2, which is going to build Yuri, with the design and insulation calculations, it is necessary to 8-12 kW. This is not enough for comfortable heating and hot water supply. Please note that you will only receive 2-3 kW from the power grid (the same amount is consumed by your electric kettle), and the rest you will get from the land for free.

2. Determine the potential of the site, the properties of the earth and the depth of groundwater

In our case, the most rational variant was with earth boreholes. They need 3 pcs. 60m deep each. Note that wells are filled with environmentally friendly and non-freezing propylene glycol (it even adds to women's cosmetics).

We spent 5 days drilling and bookmarking the contour. We had to wait for the phase of pouring the foundation to combine with this stage the laying of pipes in the house (then it will not be necessary to drill openings in fresh concrete).

Piping and tracing the contour path to the house

3. The laying of the water circuit in the house and the construction of all the pipes in one system

The work of the whole system depends on this highly skilled and responsible work. To combat this important task were sent 3 people with diplomas (which are obtained not just ...) and ... spades. All OKI, for each tube - its place on the comb, the contour is built up.

4. Let's talk about technology or batteries against a warm floor

Everything is elementary. As you know from school physics, the heat rises upward, and the cold drops down. In batteries the temperature should be 60-70 degrees, and in the warm floor - 30-35. Hence, in combination with a heat pump, a warm floor is better. Here we will use it for heating the house.

5. Signing the contract for the purchase of the most expensive element of the system - a heat pump.

The choice is made, all doubts are rejected.

After the snow fell and it became possible to move around the area without the risk of running behind the tractor, drilling began. Arrived drill combos ZIL, brought "probes" (with their help there is a fence of heat).

It took a couple of weeks, the wells were covered, the pipes were enclosed and built into the collector.

6. It's time to build a house.

When choosing a good project and a competent executive, this question is not very complicated, but rather expensive. And, for earning money, the head of the family needs all his dedication. Our owner managed the challenge to "excellent".

All wells of the heat pump are built into one common collector

Six months later, a beautiful house appeared on the site

And the mood improved)))

The walls of the house are just the beginning

There is a "bit" left: choose the finishing materials, put the floor, put the door, plumbing, sockets, switches ... and, finally, furniture.

In any case, the family decided to reinsure the "emergency" boiler for solid fuels.

The cottage with an area of 170 m2 is heated by the pump of the company IVT.

The house has an area of 170 square meters which is heated by the IVT Greenline C9 heat pump

And here we are close to the finish line. One can see the end of the "endless" construction.

You ask: And where is the heat pump?

And we will answer: So from OH. Standing in stock and waiting for your hour. As they say, "to avoid".

7. It's time for white handsome time.

Inside it - no, not a fiery engine, and a large tank for hot water for the whole family.

And he still has a brand - IVT Greenline on the "bout".

Here he is finally in the house for a few more days, and the heat of the subsoil will give himself to people.

Heat pump

I would like to note:

The heat pump was easy to get through with its wood counterpart. But he is without employment, generous nature for the family of Yuri and his friends.

Let's ask the host about the impression:

We: "Yuri, your impressions?"

Yuriy: "It's simple, warm and comfortable, yet so natural that you do not pay particular attention to the presence of a heat pump in the house. As for the cost of heating this winter, it was virtually imperceptible. The main heat, indeed, was given by the earth wells. "

"Hot water is always ready, and it's much faster and more convenient than a gas boiler," said Tatiana's wife. "It's a pity that we did not have time to make changes to the heating system: to make more warm floors and to add warm walls, then the house would be more comfortable, besides, free cooling in the summer. "

"When we had questions about the work and adjustment of the heat pump to our wishes, then the guys who installed this system, have always solved these problems very quickly. Now I can safely say that in Ukraine there is an opportunity to really use energy of nature ", - Yuriy summarizes.

That's right, friends ...
