Electric heating
The choice of a heating system during the construction of a house is one of the key.

The choice is influenced by many factors. The physical ability to connect, the availability of the necessary permissions and economic feasibility. For example, installing a solid fuel boiler at a sawmill or in a rural area is completely logical, but for a cottage or apartment the feasibility of such a solution is a big question.
The most convenient is electric heating. It is also the safest. With the rise in price of gas, the installation of an electric boiler began to be considered on a par with the installation of a gas boiler.
So what is the advantage of electrical heating and what are its features?
In Ukraine, most of the electricity is generated by nuclear power plants using a two-tariff meter. Using electric heating at night is two times more profitable than gas. But the possibility of installing electric heating depends on the size and capabilities of the electric network.
In a first approximation, to calculate the required power, you should be guided by a simple formula: for every ten square meters you need 1 kW of electric power. If the network is not enough, then a heat pump can be used for electric heating. It requires 3-5 times less electricity with the same heat output.
The next advantage in favor of electricity is a simpler installation, fewer permits for connection. It should be noted and ease of management and ample opportunities for automation of such systems.
But with sufficiently large volumes of thermal energy consumption, gas heating is still quite profitable.
Devices for electric heating are divided into three main groups (by type of heat transfer):
-
Convective devices (radiators, electric boilers, convectors)
-
Radiation heating devices (infrared panels, carbon heaters, films ...)
-
Air heating devices (fan heaters)
The first group of devices is based on the principle of air convection (mixing) in which hot air rises up and cold air drops down.
(+)
- High efficiency
- System efficiency and the possibility of heating large areas
- a wide selection of equipment
- noiselessness
(-)
raises dust from the floor
most systems dry the air
warm air is concentrated under the ceiling
The second group uses a principle similar to the sun. Infrared rays heat the surface on which they fall. The most comfortable and useful are rays with a wavelength of 3 microns.
(+)
High efficiency
Profitability through point exposure
Does not dry out the air
Just mounted
Safe
(-)
uneven heating (quickly heats objects and slowly indoors)
uncomfortable when heating large rooms
The third group works as the first but with an additional fan for better convection.
(+)
thermal efficiency is higher than in the first group
high room heating rate
(-)
Creates drafts
requires more power
noisy
Electric heating systems are an excellent alternative to gas equipment. These systems are perfectly complemented by solar panels and solar collectors. And the simplicity of tuning significantly increases their efficiency. Keep in mind that in the light of the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreements 2015 Ukraine has committed to reduce the consumption of fossil energy sources, which include gas and coal. Building highly efficient electrical systems for heating and domestic hot water is an excellent future choice.
